If you’ve been watching my stream, then you have probably noticed that I play a lot of Warhammer: Vermintide 2, and you would be right to assume that it is one of my all-time favourite games.
Okay, so what draws me in to Warhammer: Vermintide 2? Well, I love co-op games where you slay hordes of creatures. One of my favourite games of all time was Left 4 Dead and I gotta say, there is a void left in my heart without games like it. There honestly has not been a game as good as the original Left 4 Dead in my humble opinion. That is, until Warhammer: Vermintide 2. This game just absolutely steals the show. It is fun, entertaining, full of witty banter, and all around fun.
This game is entertaining for a lot of reasons, hell, I mentioned some of the reasons above. But what draws me in, is the random spawns, creatures never come at you the same way each play through, it is as ‘unique’ of an experience as it can be without completely randomly generating the maps.
Beyond that there are 5 classes, and each class has 3 sub-classes (2 of which at the time of writing have paid DLC 4th tier classes). These classes have different weapons, passive skills, and active skills. Making each player a unique experience. And depending on which characters are being played, they will have playful banter with each other as you traverse the levels.
There are multiple modes to play in this game too, which truly defines greatness, and as it would seem, there is more on the way. The developer Fatshark hasn’t come straight out and said it, but there are 3 more classes with slots for DLC characters, and that means, there is more paid content to come, and I doubt it is just the classes.
The game has a twitch mode, which allows players to interact with their chat, meaning, if I host a game on twitch, my chat can vote with commands like #A, #B for options that appear on the screen, allowing for an entertaining turn of events. The more popular of a streamer you are, the more chances of your stream decimating you, or helping you. Or a balance between them both. It is this crafty little integration that screams ‘OH HELL YEAH’ to me. As I stream to multiple services, such as Facebook, Twitch, Dlive, and more. A lot of them have their chats interlinked together through restream.io. What this means is, no matter where you are watching my stream, you can pipe up, drop the #A, #B, etc, in the chat, and it’ll sync over to twitch, thus the game will read it, and well, you guessed it, mayhem will ensue!
From the Chaos Wastes, to the 4 acts of the story, the DLC acts, and the Winds of Magic DLC with its increased level cap, new difficulty mode, and more, this game has what feels like an endless spire of gaming opportunity for someone like me who genuinely enjoys needless slaughter of Skaven (rat people) in lieu of Zombies (as Zombies are my true joy).
If you are a fan of Warhammer, then this game is for you. If you are a fan of needless slaughter of Rat People then this is the game for you. If you just like to have a good laugh, then this game, is probably for you. It has a lot of what makes a game truly fun and addicting. I recommend giving it a try. And if you don’t want to try it, well, stop by my stream and watch me plow through hordes of Skaven with my crew! I assure you, it’ll be a blast!
