I have to wonder just how much of this retelling of the game is from the old game data files, and storyboards, and how much is simply new stuff that they decided to use to enhance the story.
For those whom don’t know, there was a lot of unused dialogue in the original game files, including stuff that Aerith (Aeris) said in the OG title that was long after her ill-fated moment with Sephiroth (Spoilers). So the real question to the developers is, how much of this was stuff they had for years wanted to do, but couldn’t due to the limitations of time, or hardware, when they launched the original title.
The story follows along the original story, but with side-quests/missions, and new elements of the story have been presented. And cutscenes that simply didn’t exist in the OG title. Some stuff clearly referencing Crisis Core related events. Which as a fan of the franchise, I caught right away. Additionally there has been elements of foreshadowing of events to come, including some stuff from the movie, Advent Children.
